Welcome to Melbourn Dynamos Football Club

Melbourn Dynamos FC was established in 2003 and is one of the fastest growing and most successful youth football clubs in the area. Set-up by a group of South Cambridgeshire village residents who were keen to offer children the opportunity to play football, the club has gone from strength to strength in a few short years, gaining an enviable reputation at both local and regional level.

We are a FA Charter Standard Club.

Melbourn Dynamos regards itself as a competitive, community club with opportunities for all children, regardless of ability or background. We have teams from the "Dynamites" (under 6's) throught to Under 16's. Our teams regularly compete in the Royston Crow Youth Football League which is played throughout North Hertfordshire and along the Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Essex borders plus at a variety of tournaments held throughout the region and beyond.

Dee Patel being awarded the Cambs FA Coach of the Year

Back in 2007 Dee gave up watching his son play football in order to coach the Club’s U8 team, who were without a manager on the understanding that a replacement would be forthcoming. Having completed the Level1 course, and others which Dee undertook on his own, he was happy to stay on and coach the team when no one else stepped forward. During the 2008-09 season Dee was diagnosed with a serious heart condition and was eventually fitted with a pace maker. Understandably Dee took a back seat to recover but it wasn’t long before he was back on the touch line. Dee has also been fundamental to the development of the Club’s Dynamites and puts a large chunk of his Saturday towards coaching a large number of young boys and girls in readiness for transition into the U7 squad. Dee’s biggest challenge is now staying fit and healthy enough to delay a heart transplant so he can continue coaching.

Club Chairman Blake Carrington said of Dee’s award – ‘This is a fantastic achievement for Dee and rightly recognises an individual who has shown that at all times he puts the players first. Dee’s commitment to the Club and it’s players is plain to see and following the fitting of his pacemaker it was those same players that gave him the motivation to recover. Dee puts a huge amount of his time into the Club and I know I speak for everyone by thanking him for that and for the effort he puts into the Club’s development.
